One of the keys of life is the focus of our eyes. Psalm 25:15 "My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare." The apostle Paul encouraged us in Colossians 3:1-2 "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not one earthly things." Paul did not use the word eye but it is the same encouragement of keeping our focus on the right things. If I am driving and my eyes are focus on the fields and trees alongside the road I open myself up to getting into an accident. When my eyes are ever on the Lord then that is where I am placing my trust and confidence. When I do that then good things will happen. The concern that I have as a pastor and fellow believer in Jesus Christ is that if we are not careful we can become distracted by the cares of life and the worries of our financial situation. Jesus promised in Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you." I seek that which my eyes are focused on. No one is an exception to this rule. Our spiritual life is not up for personal opinion on how it works. God has spoken in His Word what He expects of those who believe in Him. The Word of God is very positive, when I keep the focus of my eyes on the Lord and trust Him, then I have the assurance of His protection, guidance, strength and mercy being upon my life. I will defeat the enemy and a victorious life in Christ is in my future. May encouragement for every believer in Jesus Christ is to keep our eyes on the Lord and set our hearts on heaven which is our eternal home.
May the Lord bless you and keep you in His love.
