Expressions of Thanksgiving

This week we celebrate Thanksgiving Day.  This time is filled with family dinners, football, planning for black Friday and family fun time.  I encourage you to give thanks on this day but not just on Thanksgiving Day but throughout the week.  There are many ways to give the expressions of thanks.  Here are just a few suggestions.  If on facebook post some things that you are thankful for briefly.  Write a note of thanks to those who mean a lot to you in your life.  Volunteer to clean up from the dinner before you watch football.  Remember to thank God for His love and mercy in your life.  Bring someone a gift that you really appreciate.  One of my things before anyone eats the turkey dinner is that we go around the table and each person says something they are thankful for which encourages us that this day is more then just a meal.  My list is clearly not exhaustive and is not meant to do each and everyone of them but this list is given to focus our thoughts of just how blessed we are in America.  As a Christian I have so many things to say thank you that space does not allow to speak of them all.  Here is just a few: I am thankful that I was made in the image of God, I am thankful that God loved me when I was unloveable, I am thankful that God continues to love me, I am thankful that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of sin, I am thankful that God works in my life so I can become more like Him.  I am thankful for the family that God has given to me.  I could say many more but I hope you get the idea.
May the God of all love and mercy be with us this Thanksgiving Day.  May He bless all our family gatherings.
