The danger of compromise

There are many dangers that surround the spirit of compromise within our faith in Jesus Christ.  First let me say that there are many areas of life where compromise has great value and without compromise it would make life a lot harder.  An example of this type of compromise is in the area of taste or likes.  In any relationship there will always be some give and take for the sake of the relationship.  Not to compromise in relationship will lead to selfishness which will destroy that relationship.  Now when it comes to the basics of our faith there are some areas that if we do compromise it will destroy our faith.  If I compromise on the truth of the inspiration of the Bible then the danger becomes what is the basis of our truth?  The foundation of truth and the practice of truth comes from the Bible and if that is remove then it opens the door to truth being whatever a person thinks rather then what God has said.  If I compromise on the truth that Jesus is God, who died for our sins and was raised in power for our victory then it opens the door that there are many ways to heaven, many ways back to our Creator.  Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Me."  It that is true or Jesus lied to us which means there is no room for compromise if I believe in Jesus Christ.   If I compromise on sin then it opens the door to do whatever one my please without any regard to the clear teachings of Jesus.  Yes, Jesus died on the cross for our sins and yes God loves us unconditional regardless of our actions but this is never to become a license to sin.  Jesus forgive the women caught in adultery but then said 'go and sin more.'   To confess Jesus as Savior but to never make Him Lord of our lives is to compromise our standing with Him.  The clear teaching of Paul is that we are to have the attitude of Christ, Philippians 2:5.  Our goal ought to be to please God for all that He has done for us.  I just choose a few things but could have shared many others but here is the real danger of compromise.  When I compromise these or other clear teachings of the Word of God then I can begin to believe a lie rather then the truth.  My goal must be to know God, to know His way and to know His truth.  To compromise is to open ourselves up to self deception that is believing a lie (a saying or teaching of Satan) rather then believing the truth of God.
May the Lord God give us a hunger and desire to know the truth and then the courage to align our lives up to that truth.
