What is important

Whenever someone contemplates the question, 'what is important?' it comes with personal considerations and context.  During my time of transition I am confronted with that question all the time.  What is important to me right now is to know God and His ways.  There are many questions in my life at this time and it all comes back to the issue of faith and trust in the God of promise who has been faithful to all His children throughout all generations.  God will continue to be faithful because He does not change and His Word will accomplish His plan and purpose.  There are times it is easy to see the big picture but it gets a bit harder when you personalize that plan and purpose and just how you fit into God's plan and purpose.  Every believer in Jesus does fit into that plan but in order to actualize that in our lives we must learn to cooperate with the God of the plan.  Therefore in answering the question, 'what is important?', the answer clearly is to know the God of the plan who will reveal His plan and purpose within His wisdom.  There are two passages of scriptures that helps me to keep this in proper balance.  First, Jeremiah 9:23-24 "This is what the Lord says: The wise man must not boast in his wisdom; the strong man must not boast in his strength; the wealthy man must not boast in his wealth.  But the one who boast should boast in this, that he understands and knows Me - that I am Yahweh, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on earth, for I delight in these things.  This is the Lord's declaration."  In a day when to get what you want it is easy to promote one's self in their gifts and abilities but what is most important is do you understand and know God.  Second, Philippines 3:7-9a "But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ.  More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss I view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him,".  This chapter has always been one of my favorites chapters in all the Bible.  The apostle Paul goes on to share to the importance of pressing on to take hold of that which God has called for me to do and to experience.  What is important?  To know Christ and the power of His resurrection.  To know Christ and His call in your life.  To know Christ which means all the things of life must take a distant second.  O Lord help me to know you more today.
May of God of all love and wisdom reveal Himself to us in fresh ways today.
