In the world today it is filled with many uncertainties and more questions then answers. As a believer in Jesus Christ I am confident and convinced that the Bible is the Word of God. There are some people who say the Bible is filled with contradictions and antiqued saying which make it relevant for our world today. My goal today is not to convince those who do not believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord but to those who do believe. One of the things that concerns me most in the culture of the church today is the fact that many believers are trusting in the things of the world rather then in the truth of the Word of God that reveals Jesus as the only Lord and Savior of the world. This morning my devotional reading was Psalm 19 which encourages us to trust in the Words of God. Psalm 19:7-11 "The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. the fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the com. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is treat reward." Trusting in the Bible works every time it is tried. I know some are now thinking that they have tried and it did not work for them. If I try with my own thinking and effort then you will often be disappointed. Here are three things to keep in mind when you commit your life to trust the Bible completely. First, you must commit to it completely in all aspects of your life. This cannot be a pick and choose where you just trust certain parts. I commit my whole life to live by the teaching of the Bible. Second, you must commit to trusting it for your life time. Short term thinking does not work for my eyes must be on Jesus who is seated at the right hand of God remembering my goal is to be with God forever. Third, do not get caught in new or popular teachings that have to explain away parts of the Bible in order to be understood or consistent. We must judge everything we think and do by the Bible and not the most popular evangelist or pastor of today.
May God renew your heart through His precious Word.
