Many convincing proofs
We just celebrated Easter Sunday where Christians around the world proclaim that Jesus is alive. We believe that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all people. We believe that Jesus defeated death, conquered hell and defeated the devil. The center proof for all that is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:3-8 states all that and the fact that Jesus revealed Himself alive to many people. Acts1: 3 Luke records that Jesus gave them many convincing proofs that He was alive. If Jesus was not raised from the dead then there would be no hope for us to experience a future resurrection. I believe Jesus is alive and my hope is in Jesus my Lord and Savior. What is interesting about Acts 1:3 is that Luke does not say what these proofs were but emphasized that they were convincing. Lets for a moment look at what some of those convincing proofs to His disciples might look like. First, Jesus ate with the disciples. This is recorded so this would be an easy one. Jesus acted normal when He ate with the disciples and most likely ate the same way as He did before. Second, Jesus walked and talked with the disciples. This would be called community. Here Jesus could have picked up previous conversations or recalled memories when He taught or healed the people. This convincing proof would be the risen Christ acted like He did before His death and resurrection. Third, Jesus continued the same themes within His training and teaching of the disciples. They saw continuity within His teachings and mannerisms when Jesus taught them. They would see the consistency of His teachings and now further explanations of previous teachings. Fourth, the disciples saw the evidence of the sufferings and death on the cross. They saw the scares and where the sword went into His side. Clearly the disciples saw physically that Jesus is who He claimed to be and there was no doubt that Jesus had the same body but now is was different in a good sense. As Luke was so am I convinced that Jesus is alive. Now Lord help me to live is such a manner that would prove to others that You are indeed alive for You live within me. May the Living Christ bless you and keep you in the love of God.
