Building a firm foundation

A building is as good as the foundation.  I am adding a room on the house and in the process of digging for the foundation.  This morning as I talked to the building inspector it came to me just how important the foundation is to the rest of the work.  I asked him several questions because I wanted to make sure I got the foundation right the first time.  I would waste a lot of work and time if I started and called for an inspection only to find out the work in not done right and I will have to do it again.  Then I was reminded how so many people handled their foundation for their faith.  The sad truth is that many new believers are on their own after they accept Christ as Savior.  This is due to several reasons but whatever the reason, it is highly unlikely for any person to lay a good spiritual foundation without some help by someone who know what the foundation ought to be like.  One of the key reasons for being in a church family is to be able to walk alongside someone else to help you spiritually.  The apostle Paul understood this better then anyone else, I Corinthians 3:10-11 "By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expect builder, and someone else is building on it.  But each one should be careful how he builds.  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."  Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end which means Jesus is our Savior, our Lord and our foundation.  Trying to live a righteous life is a noble goal but only is obtainable with Jesus as our foundation for all aspects of our life.  Jesus is the key of a healthy life.  Jesus at the center of our lives will help keep us in the proper balance.  Jesus, only Jesus is to be our foundation.  The words of Jesus are more important then the words any other person in the history of the world.
May the God of all love and grace grant to you a firm foundation in Jesus Christ.
