Being Faithful

There are some qualities that seem to be more important then others, the reason for that is because they are more important.  That does not diminish the others that are not as important but let me illustrate what I mean.  Love is the most important.  The apostle Paul clearly thought so when he wrote I Corinthians 13 which he basically said without love we are nothing.  Jesus thought the same when He said the most important commandment was to love God and the second was to love people.  Though this blog is not about love let's be real that one who is faithful or at least looks like they are faithful but does not have love it is all worthless.  There being faithful most be surrounded by love.  One of the qualities about God that I find reassuring is truth that God is faithful.  So what does it mean to be faithful?  To define God is faithful means that God can be trusted and is trustworthy to do all that He said He would do.  Therefore part of being faithful for God is the assurance that what God did say is what He meant to say and He has the power and authority to accomplish all that He did say.  God does not speak to hear Himself but speaks to accomplish His will and purpose.  That is brief so now what does it mean for us to be faithful?  Being faithful for us means first that we are people who are full in faith in the God who is faithful.  I am helpless to manage life by myself.  There are some who think they can but in reality there is no human who can manage life all by themselves.  This means I will place faith in something/someone in order to help me manage life.  As a believer in Jesus I choose to have faith in a faithful God.  The more faith I have in Him the more I will realize the great faithfulness of God.  Being faithful for us means, second that I can be trusted or that I am trustworthy.  If anyone claims to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ then their level of trustworthiness will be based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and not my own thoughts.  Jesus said this in Luke 6:46  "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord' and do not do what I say?"  If I do not do what Jesus said but claim to be a follower of Jesus then it is clear that I cannot be trusted.  In Matthew 23 Jesus over and over called the religious leaders of His day hypocrites because they were not being trustworthy with the words of the law and prophets.  Therefore if I want to be faithful then I must not only hear the words of Jesus but put them into daily practice.  By this others will see us being faithful which in turn will highlight the great faithfulness of God.  Being faithful is possible for all of God's children because He is present to help us through the power of the Holy Spirit to be faithful in all that we do and say.
May the God of all love reveal Himself to us and the power of the Spirit overshadow us so that others will see Jesus in us.
