There is only one God

We live in a world where there are many opinions on spiritual topics.  Some think there are many ways to heaven, some think you need to listen to a variety of opinions and then develop their own faith, some think that you just need to believe something but that is completely up to you, some either do not think there is a God and if there is one he clearly is not interested in us.  I am a follower, a believer in Jesus Christ, God's one and only Son who came to earth, who died on the cross for my sins and the sins of the world, who rose from the dead and is alive forevermore.  I believe the Bible is God's Word for us today and in the Bible God tells us how to think and how to act that we will be able to fulfill the purpose for which He created us.  If you do not believe what I believe that is your choice.  God gives us the right to believe whatever we want but even in saying that we must also understand that all choices have consequences.  The Bible is consistent and true in all that it says.  Jesus said to Nicodemus that unless a person is born again they cannot enter the kingdom of God.  Either that statement is true or it is false, it cannot be true and false.  The Bible also says that there is only one God.  There are many verses that highlight that truth but I will only share two from Isaiah 45.  Isaiah 45:5-6 "I am the Lord and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.  I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting me may know there is none besides me.  I am the Lord and thee is no other."  Nearly 41 years ago I came face to face with this reality in life.  I pondered my existence and my physical surroundings.  At the time I was in the Navy and stationed on an island and I would watch the waves come in and after contemplating the beauty of our world the only conclusion is that there had to be a Creator God.  Then I also realized that if there is a creator then there is purpose for His creation.  If there is purpose for creation then there is purpose for my life.  Once I came to that conclusion then I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  That is exactly what this verse in Isaiah is talking about.  Isaiah 45:18 "For this is what the Lord says-he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-he says: I am the Lord, and there is no other."  The Bible declares this truth in many different places and many different ways.  All other views leads to idols which will distorts a person's ability to know and understand the truth of God.  Some may think they are enlightened but true God enlightenment will always conclude that there is only one God.  The one true God is all loving, all kind, all merciful and all faithful.  Our responsibility is to love God with all our hearts and to live our lives His way rather then our own way.  If anyone is thinking that is just what they are doing but Jesus is not the center of all their spiritual activity are walking a pathway different then what the Bible encourages us to walk.
May the God of all creation bring about help and strength so we can live life His way.
