There are many verses that encourage us to trust God or to have faith in God or to follow God. This has been a journey that God has had me for a couple of years now. I still have a note into my kindle that I wrote a couple of years that I look at frequently that God spoke to me about trusting Him. The lessons God is trying to teach me are ever present which means I am probably a slow learner in my ability to trust Him. How do you know when you have master the lesson of trusting the Lord? That was one of my thoughts this morning and the only answer that seems right is when we see Jesus face to face. Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." I could have shared many others verses but this verse speaks to the issue that I struggle with the most which is I want to figure this out as God is revealing His plan. But that is not what this verse encourages. I am trust to the Lord while at the same time not lean upon my intellectual ability of modern wisdom. This is not easy for me because my background and the culture that I live in which basically says that we are to take life by the horns and if we run into trouble then ask God to help you. This is getting how we are to trust the Lord all backward. My encouragement from God is trust Him with all my heart. Isaiah 55:8 speaks to the truth that God thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. Trusting God then is thinking the thoughts of God and acting in ways that God is pleased. Therefore we will begin to know what it means to trust God when we begin to think more like God and to act more like God. Jesus is the very image of God so the call to follow Jesus was the call to think more like God and to act more like God. I cannot speak for you but as for me I still have a lot to learn concerning trusting God.
May the God of all love and power be with us as we trust Him.
