What is Truth?
This question has been asked by many people throughout the history of man. Some have taken this question very seriously while others already think they know the truth. In a short I will not be able to go into depth but will share a story from history who I think asked this question to the right person but then did not stick around to listen to the answer. About 2,000 years ago shortly after Jesus was arrested the religious leaders of that time accused Jesus of crimes deserving the death penalty. They presented Jesus before Pilate who did not share the opinion of the religious leaders. After Pilate questioned Jesus he quickly realized Jesus did not do the things He was accused of doing so Pilate asked Jesus if He was the King of the Jews. Jesus responded Pilate with another question "Is that your own idea or did others talk to you about Me?" Jesus then began to explain to Pilate that His kingdom was not of this world but from another place. Pilate replied to Jesus then You are a King. To this Jesus said "You are right in saying I am a king. in fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." After Jesus said this Pilate asked this most important question "What is truth?" Jesus just got done He came to testify to the truth and those on the side of truth will listen to Him. So Pilate asked this question but his response after this question is very puzzling in that Pilate did not stick around for the answer but left to go talk to the Jews. If one is serious about knowing the truth then Jesus told us to listen to Him. Jesus also said that He was the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is the Creator, the author of truth by which we can understand all things. I realize after saying that that many people do not agree with me but that is their choice. As a follower of Jesus Christ I want to know and understand the truth therefore here are three quick things you can do to know the truth. First, read the Bible everyday. Jesus is the truth and He helps us to understand the truth when we read His Word. Second, be teachable. Pride comes before the fall. Humble yourself and realize you there is much more truth to get to know then what you know at this moment. Third, be willing to change. God calls this transformation. Some people call it being flexible. I call it bringing yourself in alignment to a better way. Though I thought something in the past was true may need to change when better insight and knowledge is presented to me. May the all knowing God lead and guide you into truth. May God's love strengthen you.
