The words of Jesus have inspired men and women throughout the centuries to do great exploits for God and His kingdom. When Jesus addressed a crowd once He spoke a series of beatitudes which can be found in Matthew 4. Basically here Jesus was laying down how a person can live a blessed life. If one were to follow all these blessings completely it would not seem to be the ingredients of the making of a great child of God who will do great exploits for God but that is exactly what will happen. The key understanding here is not our ability but having the blessing of God. If we would be a little more concerned about how to receive His blessings then honing our own skills we will be much more effective in serving our great God. The third beatitude is "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." Another word that could be used for meek is gentle, mild or humble. Being meek is the quality characteristic of humility when coupled with gentleness. The meek person not only does not threaten or challenge others but accepts others openly and confidently. Moses is an example of a meek person. Meekness does not mean weakness of personality or the weakness to be a leader but rather it means I am weak and powerless within myself so I will wholly trust in God as my strength, hope and provision. When I learn to trust Jesus completely it will be through the spirit of meekness, humility. As long as I am in control or to what degree I am in control it means that Jesus in not control. Help us Jesus to humble ourselves before you so we will be able to walk with the blessing of the Lord upon our lives.
May the power of God and the grace of Jesus be with you.
