Jesus is Lord

This morning devotional time with the Lord renewed my understanding of the importance of the fear of the Lord and that of trusting God as Lord of our lives.  What does it mean when that Jesus is Lord?  Does it mean Jesus is Lord just for those who are believers in Jesus Christ or is Jesus Lord of everything and everyone?  The answer to that question is found in the Scriptures.  Before I go on let it be know that not everyone will agree with what I am going to say, I mean not every Christian will agree but if the Scriptures is our foundation then we must allow the Word of God to formulate our thinking on the topic of Jesus being Lord.  The answer to the question is that Jesus is Lord over everyone and everything.  It does not matter or not at the time if it looks like that or not because the declared truth does not become undeclared just because someone chooses not to believe it.  Here are three biblical reasons why Jesus is Lord over all things and each person.  First, Jesus created everything that exists, Colossians 1:15-16 "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."  That which is created will one day have to give an account to the one who created them.  The Bible is very clear about that topic that there is a day of judgment and no one will be able to escape that truth.  Second, rebellion does not change the truth of who is in charge.  There will be a season that it may not look like the creator is in charge because of that rebellion but make no mistake of the truth of Phillippians 2:10-11 "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."  There is only one conclusion of this passage of scriptures which is everyone will confess Jesus is Lord because Jesus is Lord whether or not someone acts like it or not and at the time of judgment everyone will admit and confess the truth that Jesus is Lord.  Third, Jesus is Lord because of who He is and what He has done for us through His life, death and resurrection.  Only Jesus could be Lord and demand the things that He does because He is in truth Lord of all of life.  Had He not done what He then there might be another option.  The gospel, acts, epistles and book of revelation are all in agreement that Jesus is Lord.  My response to this truth will determine my future and outlook on heaven and hell.  Because this true I choose to believe in Jesus, I choose to make Jesus Lord of my life now and I choose to do His will in order to please Him.  I encourage you to make this same choice on a daily basis.
May the God of all love and mercy strengthen our hearts to love and serve Jesus.
