There are growing tensions around the world concerning inhuman acts by some people against other people, this is evil. These inhuman acts range from stealing, immorality, violence, drugs and alcohol, deception and etc. These types of problems are not new to our culture today for in the time of the Judges it stated that "every man did what was right in their own eyes." Some of the inhuman acts (evil) are done in the name of religion. It is not just one religion in our world today but unfortunately many different religions are being violent to oppress others who do not believe the way they do. This is a different issue because in some countries these acts are either condoned or overlook because the leaders of that country practice that religion. With that in mind my comments will only address the American culture. Romans 13:1 "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities for their is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God" vs 3"For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong". The context here is that our police, military and the legal system are to restrain the evil in our culture. When the government acts to find and punish those who commit inhuman acts (evil) upon others we will have a more stable society. It is when evil is not restrained or governing authorities turn away from doing what they are called to do that chaos begins to arise within any culture. This is what Solomon talked about in Proverbs 28:12 "When the righteous triumph, there is great elation: but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding." The responsibility of our governing authorities is to restrain the wicked so that they do not have power. Power here can easily be understood here is having control. In certain places the evil men are in power or control and unless our leaders do what is necessary to remove them it will mean chaos and much injustice to that community. The responsibility of the church is to pray and support our leaders so we can live in a just safe society. I realize there are different opinions to bring this about and for that reason my focus is that if our leaders do not restrain the evil in our society then we will begin to lose our stability as a society. Many if not most people may not think it is serious now but my warning is that changes like this do not take more then one generation. If we allow the mentality of "everyone doing what is right in their own eyes" then we will have much bigger problem of evil in our society. For evil to arise it does not much more then the righteous doing nothing. It is the righteous who always have been the ones who are called upon to restrain the evil in our society.
May the God of all love and righteousness help us to do that which is right in His sight.
