The thought that Jesus ought to be at the center is not just a good saying but one we need to ponder in how well are we doing in putting Jesus at the center of our lives. First, let's emphasis the importance of Jesus being at the center. The church believes in the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is in the center. Jesus is the central figure in the creation of the world. Jesus was the center of attraction at His birth, the shepherds went to see Him, the wise men went to see Him. Jesus was alway the center during His earthy ministry in two ways. The common people surrounded Him constantly wanting to hear His words of wisdom and to be healed. Secondly, Jesus was the center of attention for the religious leaders of the day, they were always trying to figure out how to minimize His influence and when they could not they plotted to kill Him. At His death Jesus was crucified between two thiefs, again Jesus was in the center. On the third day Jesus rose from the grave and shortly afterward came and stood in the center of the upper room with His disciples. Jesus being the Head of the church means His teachings are to be at the center of all activities. One more thing Jesus is at the center of time, BC, before Christ. The very means of time is a reflection that Jesus is at the center. Now let's ask ourselves this question. How am I doing in keeping Jesus at the center of my life? The answer is not solely in the words we say but it is in the life we live. Jesus said that if you love me, you will obey my commands. Jesus said that if you want to be His disciple then you must pick up your cross, deny yourself and then follow Him. Jesus said we are to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and to be His witnesses. This is the activity of making disciples. If Jesus is at the center of your life then you will want to live your life to bring honor and glory to Him for He alone is Savior and Lord for all the world. With Jesus at the center of our lives it will affect how we use our time and the resources that God has entrusted in our care.
I encourage you to put Jesus at the center of your life and begin to ask God for grace and strength to live life the Jesus way.
May Jesus strengthen you by the power of the Spirit in your inner being.
