This phrase was used by the apostle Peter in response to the healing of the crippled beggar at the temple gate called Beautiful. Peter was speaking to the onlookers of what just happened. Acts 3:19 - 20 "Repent, then, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you-even Jesus." Most of us need a time of refreshing which according to Peter comes after we repent and center everything around Jesus. Unfortunately many people are seeking times of refreshing in all the wrong places and then wonder where is God. This weekend there will be an opportunity for a time of refreshing but it begins with repentance. This is basically saying I have sinned by trying to life my way and now I am going to turn to Jesus and do life His way. The apostle Peter indicates that God wants to send times of refreshing. That times of refreshing are available to us but the question is whether or not we are going to choose a time of refreshing. If I repent of my self-centered ways and turn to Jesus then I will receive a time of refreshing. If I choose to continue to do what I am doing then I will continue to receive what I have been receiving. As for me I choose this weekend to experience a time of refreshing in Jesus.
May our hearts to turned to receive all that Jesus has done for us through the cross and His resurrection.
