We live in a data world. We have more information available to us in an instant then ever before in the history of the world. It is getting harder to know what to believe and who can you trust among those who give out information. Within this short blog it is not possible to be comprehensive within this discussion therefore as a believer in Jesus Christ I am making a couple of assumptions. First, the Bible is God's Word and is true and reliable. Second, Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity meaning Jesus is God who came to die on the cross for the sins of the world and rose from the grave and is now sitting at the right hand of God. Now to the discussion on seeking the truth. During the trial of Jesus Pilate asked the question, 'What is truth?'. Jesus was standing before him and unfortunately Pilate did not wait for a response and ordered Jesus to be crucified. The interesting thing though is the verse immediately before this question Jesus made this statement, 'whoever is on the side of truth listens to me.' John 18:37 Now I am going to made another assumption, I believe the vast majority of people want to be on the side of the truth but for a variety of reasons many are not listening to Jesus. Jesus came into world and reveal Himself as the Word coming in the flesh. Jesus made the following statements concerning Himself. I am the light of the world. I am the bread of life. I am the good shepherd. I am the way, the truth and the life. Before Abraham was born, I am. Now either these statements are true or they are false. They cannot be both true and false. As a follower of Jesus I believe they are true which means then that Jesus is the truth, the source of truth, the foundation of truth and the standard for the truth. This is a faith statement. Now for those who choose not to believe this it is also a faith statement. In seeking the truth it is wise to have reliable sources for that truth. After many years of study and research on many different religions and philosphies it is my firm belief that the Christian Faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord of all life is the most reliable, consistent and stable faith of all the possible faith positions a person can have in life. In seeking the truth it is wise to go to the source of truth, which is Jesus.
May the Lord enlighten the eyes of your heart to know and experience the truth.
